Help Page
I apologize that you didn't find what you
were looking for. Most likely it's because
the page was moved in a site update.
Here is a general description of each section
listed in the top frame. Just click on the
link to get to the section you want. Home
(top left corner) gets you to the main site
with links to all of the sections.
- Bill's Writing: This section contains all of my writing
that has been migrated into HTML form and
uploaded. The only exception is for my Byte
columns.
- BYTE Columns: 1999 2000 2001 2002 These are all of the columns I wrote for
Byte.com, from 1999 on. Any changes since
original publication are marked with either
Note: or Update:. Each year links to an index with brief
comments about each column.
- OS/2 Info: This links to an index about OS/2 columns
and resources.
- BSD Info: Similarly, this links to columns and resources
on the BSD crew, including FreeBSD, NetBSD,
OpenBSD, PicoBSD, BSD/OS and Darwin.
- CP/PM links to a section on Capacity Planning
and Performance Management. Update: CP/PM has now been moved under Software Engineering.
- Technology: Links to some of my ideas on IT organizations
and how to deliver better results. Update: This has now been renamed Software Management
and moved under Software Engineering.
- Grids and Clusters: Clusters are connected groups of individual
systems. Grids are clusters of Clusters with
much additional middleware to make management
under many different owners possible This
is a high activity area, both leading edge
and production software and systems.
- Digital Libraries: Digital Libraries are much more than just
books in digital form. Dlibs can contain
any information in digitized form. The big
difference is the metadata that identifies
each item. The Library of Congress has 7.5
million items digitized and on line.
- Science Links: This starts as links to major science sites,
and will add other resources as time permits.
- Design Studies: This is now linked under
Bill's Writing.
